Happy 5 Month Birthday to our little Emma Bug! I can't believe how big she's getting. Every day, it seems, she learns a new skill and surprises us with it. Today, she figured out that if she can lay on her side and kick things, she can reach them (see pic below).
We started trying some rice cereal with Emma about 2-3 weeks ago. She still has a little bit of the tongue thrust reflex, but she's getting the hang of it. We'll probably start on some stage one purees in the next few weeks. Go Emma!
Our sweet baby who used to sleep through the night (I use that term loosely, since she'd occasionally wake up looking for her pacifier), has now taken to waking Mommy and Daddy up at unGodly hours of the night/morning ABSOLUTELY STARVING! We've had a few nights of 3 am feedings (which hadn't happened since she was about 8 weeks old), and other times she ALLOWS us to only be woken at 4:30 or 5:00 am. Blegh. I guess it's like my brother said, "Once you've got a good thing going, they go and change on you." I don't know if she's teething, is having a growth spurt, if her belly is upset, or what, but whatever is causing this, it's not making for happy parents!
I can't remember if I posted pics of the Christmas visit up to the Northeast, but if I didn't, then I will soon. One thing at a time... that seems to be about what my brain can handle these days!
Emma has an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist on Tuesday morning to evaluate the vascular birthmark on her scalp. If it weren't in such a bad place (now that she's trying to move she could bump it, rupture it, or another kiddo could scratch it), then we wouldn't think twice about it. But... better safe than sorry. It continues to grow and raise up more, so we're also worried about it possibly ulcerating and bleeding. Hopefully the doctor will be able to shed some light on possible, if any neccessary, treatment.
We'll keep you posted!
